June 2017

Dear Parents,

This year has flown by so quickly, and school will soon be out for the summer. On behalf of our staff, I would like to thank all of our families for their continued support and prayers in making this a blessed year.

We have been blessed in many ways this school year.  Our students have been very successful in different events and competitions this year: Power of the Pen, Science Olympiad, Science Fair, athletics, and the Ohio Art Works Art & Essay Competition.  Builder’s Club and Student Council have organized and sponsored different activities and fund raisers, which have all been very successful. We are very proud of our students and their wonderful accomplishments. Congratulations to the students and a big thank you to the adult advisors, who made these opportunities available.

Have a wonderful and safe summer enjoying family time and friends.  We look forward to seeing everyone at Packet Sunday, August 20th.

Students in grades kindergarten through grade seven  received their report cards on the last day of school. Report cards for students in grade eight are mailed home. Parents of 8th graders are responsible for mailing the final report card to the high school the student will be attending in the fall.

Students entering grades 3-8 received a summer reading list in the report card envelope. These lists are also posted on the school website.

Students have already received their Summer Simple Solutions. This is a wonderful way to help students retain the math concepts learned throughout the year.  Students are to bring their book back to school on the first day of school in August. Students will be given a math assessment when school begins.

Many festivities were planned for the graduating eighth graders.  The Baccalaureate Mass was held on Monday, June 5th .  Grades 6, 7, parents and friends were invited to attend to support the 8th graders.  The Honors Assembly was held directly after the Baccalaureate Mass followed by their luncheon. The students attended Cedar Point on Tuesday. The Graduation Ceremony took place at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, June 7th .  We wish the very best to our graduates as they move onto high school.

Our kindergarteners also graduated on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 a.m. The students shared many of their accomplishments to the delight of their parents.  We look forward to seeing them as first graders next August.

Mrs. Coury has spent the last 23 years nurturing, and loving every student who passed through her second grade classroom. She shared her love of our faith while preparing the students for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion and teaching them about God’s unending love. But most importantly – thank you to Mrs.Coury for being an inspiration and outstanding role model to both students and staff. She will truly be missed. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Coury for her love of your children and her dedication to teaching at Saint Raphael School.
